From clinical experience to community health advocacy
Keira worked alongside Nurse Practitioner Melanie at Elevate Wellness, a respected pediatric psychology practice. This wasn't a passive shadowing experience—she was immersed in real pediatric care, witnessing the powerful connection between mental and physical health in young people.
Through her clinical experience, Keira saw firsthand how early intervention, education, and compassionate advocacy could fundamentally change the trajectory of a child's life. She understood that wellness wasn't just about treating illness—it was about prevention, education, and community support.
Determined to make wellness visible and accessible within her own community, Keira founded the Bloomfield Health and Wellness Club. What began as a small student-led initiative quickly grew into a dynamic organization focused on:
Keira's leadership reached far beyond meetings and presentations. Recognizing the often-overlooked risk of hidden cardiac conditions in young athletes, she began researching the issue extensively.
She learned that sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in student athletes, often caused by undiagnosed conditions like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Many of these tragedies are preventable with proper screening and awareness.
Keira didn't just learn about the problem—she took action:
Keira's efforts didn't go unnoticed. She was honored with the Bloomfield Hills Fire Department Award for Excellence in Raising Awareness of Hidden Cardiac Concerns in Student Athletes.
This wasn't a participation trophy. It was official recognition from first responders—the people who would respond to a cardiac emergency—acknowledging that Keira's work made a measurable difference in protecting student athletes.
Keira's college application demonstrated:
Keira's application told a coherent story: clinical experience sparked understanding, understanding drove action, action created community impact, and impact earned formal recognition. Every piece was verifiable, documented, and authentic.
Through clinical placements, nonprofit partnerships, and community health initiatives, we help students demonstrate their commitment to healthcare through measurable action and recognized impact.
